Ajudem-me a traduzir para Inglês esta frase

vou colocar na minha assinatura de correio eletrônico esta frase do Olavo:
"O mundo seria muito melhor se não houvesse tanta gente empenhada em melhorá-lo."

Ocorre que às vezes escrevo para alguém em Inglês. Será que fica boa a tradução assim ? têm alguma sugestão ?
"The world would be much better if there was not so many people dedicated to make it better."

Pensei em trocar "dedicated" por "trying"; como fica melhor ?

..."if there were not so many people striving to improve it."

The world would be a better place were there not so many intent on improving it.
